Your Testimony
This month, I encourage us to not only take time to intentionally thank God for what he has done in our lives so far, but to also be intentional about sharing our testimony with others.
The Bible is full of the accounts of people’s lives and encounters that we are able to read and relate to. Imagine if none of those were ever recorded or shared? What would our knowledge of God, our understanding of His character, and His ways be based off of? Imagine the life of Jesus was never recorded across the Gospels? How would we know how to live? How would we know about salvation?
Our testimonies are more important than we know and that’s why it’s important that we don’t keep them to ourselves! Paul puts it best in Romans 10:13-15 NLT and Romans 15:17-19 TLB
13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” - Romans 10:13-15 NLT
17 So it is right for me to be alittle proud of all Christ Jesus has done through me. 18 I dare not judge how effectively he has used others, but I know this: he has used me to win the Gentiles to God. 19 I have won them by my message and by the good way I have lived before them and by the miracles done through me as signs from God—all by the Holy Spirit’s power. In this way I have preached the full Gospel of Christ all the way from Jerusalem clear over into Illyricum. - Romans 15:17-19 TLB
It is such a good reminder that when God does something in our lives, it is not just for us, but he does it with others in mind. You truly never know how God might want to use your testimony to encourage others, be an answer to someone else’s prayer, be a source of encouragement, or give them hope! And how much more for the unbeliever.
Prayer
Lord, give me the wisdom to know when, where, and how to share my testimony with others. Help me to share it in a way that only you get the glory out of it. May it be something that helps draw others to know you more. Amen.
